Where to Keep Your Chinese Elm Bonsai

Chinese Elm bonsai are wonderfully versatile and can be kept indoors or outdoors. Indoors, place your bonsai in a bright position with plenty of natural light, ideally near a window that doesn't much direct sunlight. Avoid placing it directly above radiators or in very hot, dry areas or bathrooms and kitchens.

If kept outdoors, choose a bright, sheltered position with good natural light. Chinese Elms enjoy being outside during the warmer months but should be given good winter protection in the colder months or ideally bought inside.

Every bonsai is naturally unique, so there will be slight differences in the shape, size, trunk and foliage from tree to tree. Our bonsai pots are also handmade, meaning small variations in colour, finish and small glazing cracks are part of their individual character. Available in a choice of three sizes: 15cm pot (approx. 30cm tall), 20cm pot (approx. 35cm tall), and 25cm pot (approx. 45cm tall), so you can choose the size that best suits your space and style.
