Where to Keep Your Chinese Elm Bonsai
Chinese Elm bonsai are wonderfully versatile and can be kept indoors or outdoors. Indoors, place your bonsai in a bright position with plenty of natural light, ideally near a window that doesn't much direct sunlight. Avoid placing it directly above radiators or in very hot, dry areas or bathrooms and kitchens.
If kept outdoors, choose a bright, sheltered position with good natural light. Chinese Elms enjoy being outside during the warmer months but should be given good winter protection in the colder months or ideally bought inside.
Chinese Elm bonsai are evergreen when kept indoors, but when grown outdoors they are semi-deciduous and may lose some or all of their leaves during the colder months.
